Femme Brutale are “sensual systems for living”, creating harmonious clashes of positive and negative form.  Femme Brutale uses a language of metaphor, volume and material to produce objects of utility, play, beauty, starkness and intent. This capsule was born in reaction to and rejection of false binary gender tropes, mandated consciously and subconsciously, in design and lived experience.  

At the foundation of Femme Brutale is a simple form, a cube with a single curved edge, which in isolation is stark, unyielding, brutal.  The form is repeated and treated; carved, clad, burnt.  Wood becomes undulating, fur is etched to invoke wood grain, glass becomes molten and is preserved in sensual, lucid forms.  Some shimmer, some seemingly deaden light and some invoke touch.
